FLEETING IMMERSION is a revolutionary pop-up concept shop melding arts, culture and shopping.
Celebrating the handmade in art, and the fusion of concept and commerce, FLEETING IMMERSION was created and developed by actress, comedienne and producer Janet Varney (Entourage; Dinner and a Movie; founder, SF Sketchfest: The San Francisco Comedy Festival); and actress & comedienne Jessica Makinson (Halfway Home; South Park). FLEETING IMMERSION embraces the pop-up concept and runs thematically wild – featuring highly original works of art, furniture, handmade goods, vintage clothing, and accessories, with every element of the show aligned around a unique, ever-changing theme.
For the show and shop’s inaugural, 10-day run in September, 2010, Tinlark Gallery (located in the historic Crossroads of the World complex on Sunset Blvd.) will be transformed into the world of Santa Fe Astronaut, with each artist’s contribution inspired by the unique foundations of the Southwest…and outer space!

About SANTA FE ASTRONAUt
Santa Fe Astronaut is a fusion of two seemingly disparate concepts that share more artistic commonality than might initially meet the eye. Artists were invited to consider what the crossroads of the two concepts might look and feel like when merged into one. Visitors can expect to see nods to the desert, the American Southwest, and outer space, either connected to one another or fused with some innovation. Offerings range from upcycled furnishings to artwork exploring humanity’s ties to the fragility of the environment. Inspiration came from many different sources, from Carl Sagan's Cosmos to the 1984 movie Starman.
Fleeting Immersion will feature the work of over a dozen acclaimed artists and artisans from across the United States. Contributors include: Ryan Berkley, Susie Ghahremani, Harbinger Jewelry, Martha Sue Harris, The Heads of State, Dan McCarthy, Phil Noto, Jen Renninger, Christopher Ryan, Divya Srinivasan, Two Lone Wolves (Makinson and Varney), and more.
About FLEETING IMMERSION
September’s FLEETING IMMERSION serves as the inaugural event of a series that Jessica Makinson and Janet Varney will present three times yearly. Every unique, totally original collection will be as equally and uniquely conceptualized as Santa Fe Astronaut. The gallery will become the home of a fictitious character, including their furniture, artwork, plants, books, clothing, and more. Virtually everything in the gallery is intended for sale, from a paperback novel to the original painting on the wall. Items not bought during the installations become available for purchase from the online shop after the show closes.
